How it works

Four steps, no runaround

  1. Call or send photos

Text or upload a couple of pictures of the tree and the surroundings. That is usually enough for a real ballpark.

  2. Free on-site estimate

We walk the property, check access, look at what is overhead and underground, and give you a written number.

  3. Scheduled and done

Crew shows up when we said, does the work, and does not disappear halfway through.

  4. Cleaned up completely

Brush chipped, wood hauled or stacked, work area raked and blown before we pull out.

Why us

We will talk you out of a removal

A lot of companies quote a removal on every tree they look at, because removals pay more than pruning. That is backwards. A healthy 60 year old oak is worth more to your property than anything you would plant to replace it, and a lot of trees people think are dying are just stressed.

If your tree can be saved with corrective pruning, deadwooding, or a cable, we will tell you that and quote the cheaper job. If it is a hazard, we will tell you that too, and show you why.

  • No topping, ever. Topping ruins trees and creates weak regrowth that fails in the next storm.
  • Oak wilt aware. We do not prune oaks April through October, because that is how oak wilt spreads.
  • Permits checked first. Birmingham, Novi, Rochester Hills, and Farmington Hills all have ordinances. We read them before we quote.
  • Written estimates. The number on the paper is the number on the invoice.

FAQ

Tree service questions we get every week

How much does tree removal cost in Metro Detroit?

Most residential removals run $450 to $3,200. A small ornamental under 30 feet is $450 to $800. A mature 30 to 60 foot tree, which covers most subdivision maples and ashes, runs $900 to $1,600. Large oaks and pines over 60 feet or anything needing a crane runs $1,800 and up. Height, trunk diameter, distance to the house and power lines, and equipment access are what move the number.

Are you licensed and insured?

Yes, general liability and workers compensation, and we send the certificate before the job. Ask every company you get a quote from for the same thing. If a climber gets hurt on an uninsured crew working at your house, that exposure can land on you.

Do you offer free estimates?

Yes. For most jobs we can give you a solid range over the phone from a few photos, and a firm written number after a site visit. There is no charge and no obligation either way.

How fast can someone get out here?

Emergencies, meaning a tree on a structure, a car, or blocking access, get a crew dispatched same day, 24 hours a day. Standard removals and trimming are typically scheduled within a week, longer in the days right after a regional windstorm.

What areas do you serve?

All of Metro Detroit. Wayne, Oakland, and Macomb County, including Detroit, Troy, Sterling Heights, Warren, Royal Oak, Rochester Hills, Birmingham, Bloomfield Hills, West Bloomfield, Southfield, Livonia, Novi, Farmington Hills, Clinton Township, and Shelby Township.

Do you clean up when you are done?

Completely. Brush goes through the chipper, wood gets hauled or stacked if you burn, and we rake and blow the work area before we leave. You should not be able to tell we were there except the tree is gone.
