Storm Damage Tree Cleanup

After the wind stops, the dangerous part is what is still hanging up there. Broken limbs caught in the canopy come down on their own schedule.

  • Hangers and widowmakers removed from the canopy first
  • Split trunks assessed for whether the tree can be saved
  • Complete debris haul off, not just the big pieces
  • Before and after photos for your insurance adjuster

Hangers are the real hazard

A broken limb that is caught in the canopy instead of on the ground is the most dangerous thing in a storm damaged yard. It has no support, it is under tension, and it comes down when it feels like it. Keep kids and pets out of that area and do not try to pull it down with a rope from the ground.

Can the tree be saved?

Depends where it broke. A tree that lost under a third of its canopy on one side usually recovers with corrective pruning. A tree with a split down the main trunk, a cracked union between codominant stems, or a root plate lifted out of the ground is finished. We will tell you straight which one you have, because we would rather prune it now and remove it in ten years than remove it today.

Documenting the claim

Before we cut, we photograph the tree, the damage, and the position of everything. You get an itemized invoice separating removal, structural damage cleanup, and debris disposal, because adjusters treat those line items differently.

Before you hire anyone: ask for a certificate of insurance showing both general liability and workers compensation, and get the estimate in writing. Those two things filter out most of the problems people run into with tree companies.

FAQ

Storm Damage Cleanup questions

How soon after a storm can you come?

Trees on houses and blocked driveways get priority and are usually same day. Yard cleanup after a regional windstorm can be two to five days out because every crew in the metro is booked.

Do you handle the insurance paperwork?

We provide the documentation your adjuster needs, meaning photos, an itemized invoice, and a written description of the damage. You file the claim, we make sure you have what you need to get it approved.
